R Walling
I an having a lot of trouble in finding a six volt fuel sender, positive ground for my 55 Chrysler.<O:pI purchased a sender but the instructions say it is only for a 12v. Negative ground. Has anyone tried to use a 12v in a six-volt car or do you know of anyone that sells them?<O:pI can modify the mounting arrangement if necessary<O:p<O:pI have looked for hours on line and can't find a supplier<O:pThanks, Roger
ply33
Senders are basically variable resistors where the resistance values vary based on float height. So the voltage of the system should not matter. What should matter is the resistance values the dash unit is expecting from the the sending unit. And it also matters what the physical mounting is. (Also from the late 1930s through most of the 1940s Chrysler Corp. used a "two wire" sending unit that is a bit different but as you write of a 1955, I think that does not apply to you.)See Plymouth: First Decade - 1950s Fuel Sending Unit for fitting a modern universal style sender into a 1953 Plymouth. It might be that your 1955 Chrysler would be similar.
