Guest
Looking for info as to make / model & years of a small auto that has ability to go into the water with two propeller drives out the rear and acts as a boat. Have cabin on lake and am intriqued by this ( and maybe restoring an old pickup to go with the cabin!) Saw car/auto at Chicago Museum Science & Industry once yrs ago - but unsuccessful at getting info from them so far. Any info, car club identities, web site addresses, or help in getting info from the AACA library would be greatly appreciated. Just trying to learn where to start - and found the club and site on the net. Great resource! Already passed on to several friends. Thanks for any help you can give!
Dave dtakes@doerfer.com (livelongman)
1937hd45
Hello, What you are looking for is an Amphicar. Like most cars there is a club, and WEBSITE! www.amphicar.com Good luck, remember to keep the doors closed. novaman
fore warning, if you find one expect to carry it home in a basket for the small price of $15,000 I've had an interest in these car after I saw one leave a antique car show then a couple of minutes later come down the large creek along side of the show field and on out into the lake she went.
There was one in the show at Hershey this fall.
Just letting you know ahead of time. We wouldn't want you to die from "sticker shock".
Guest
To 1937hd45 - Thanks for the way quick and completely informative reply! I'll add the "keep the doors closed" advice to that part of my brain that remembers to put the plug in the boat and keep my stick on the ice! Thanks again.
livelongman
