MCHinson
Welcome to the AACA Discussion Forum. I have no idea about the answer to your question. I suspect that Steve Moskowitz or someone else who knows something about these will chime in and be able to give you some good information. I seem to recall some discussion of these here previously. If I can search and find some information, I will point you towards it.

Steve Moskowitz
Condition is important. A nice once seems to bring decent money but most I have seen have sold for between $3,500 and $7,500. There are a lot of pictures and literature on the Rollsmobile available on eBay and elsewhere. Fun parade vehicles if you can keep the tires on them. I owned a newer version of this replica and currently own a much smaller replica. After my adventures with the real things I might have been better off sticking with the replicas. Rusty_OToole
Couldn't you build one cheaper than that? The plans appeared in an old Popular Michanics magazine didn't they?
Steve Moskowitz
Yep, you could! I have a set of those plans. Among the replicas, the 50's ones are the ones that tend to bring the best price. Most I believe had the Kohler engine. I owned one from the outfit in Florida but they were made in several states.
Guest Silverghost
Some folks think these replica Olds are the REAL authentic Antique 1901 OLDS autos~~~ When I first found, and bought my 1904 curved dash Olds some months ago I got a call from forum member EMFowner here who, along with his Dad, collect rare early autos. He told me of attending an early antique auto show where a guy was displaying his 1901 Olds replica like mentioned in the posts above.. It was obviously a replica with a lawnmower style modern engine. When he talked with it's owner he asked him how long he had owned the 1901 replica curved dash Olds. The owner shot back that it was NOT a replca but it was in fact a real 1901 Olds. He then asked the owner if Olds in fact used this sort of lawnmower engine in their car's origionally in 1901~~~ The owner replied YES~~~ and he was dead serious ! I thought this was very funny while at the same time very sad ! I will let EMFowner tell you this complete story if he wishes to do so ! Dave Mellor NJ
There was a guy here in South Jersey who used to bring an early Rambler out to shows, He had an auto supply storefront in Stratford and I think his name was Bob. It had a mickey mouse engine also but he never made any bones about it being real. The rest of the car was real.
Guest erikfredell
Saw your questions about Rollsmobile. My wife and I own one which is being restored due to damage during a move. We have had it since the 60's when her father gave it to her. It is in great shape but the single cylinder Continental 3 hp engine and centrifugal clutch made it totally gutless. We remove the engine and clutch and replaced it with a 6 hp Honda engine with electric start. Now it runs like crazy. It goes in for a new paint job tomorrow. It is a 1959 vehicle that was last licensed in Nebraska. They were used by companies for promotional purposes. The website for Desert classics has one for sale and it has a lot of information. We recently were able to purchase postcards from Starts Manufacturing Company that someone had on Ebay and they show the factory and several models including a surrey version. It is truly a replica car and bunch of fun.

Somewhere there is a photo of me starting one that I brought home when I was about 14. It was an early one similar to the one pictured. Dandy Dave! Here is a link to one like I had running. Neat engine. I swaped it for a 1920's 2 and 1/2 HP Cummins built Thermoil Diesel. Dandy Dave! Guest Trish Seay
I am looking for someone to restore my 1958 Rollsmobile, the 1901 Oldsmobile 3/4 scale replica. I live in the Western Kentucky area but am willing to ship the car with all parts to a reputable restoration artist. This is an heirloom piece from a dear, dear friend so only serious inquiries will be considered. I can be reached at patriciaseay@aol.com and can and will send photos for negotiation purposes. nzcarnerd
I was aware these things were around but never seen one. Interesting they are now antiques in their own right. Just curious; do they have a differential or do they just drive one wheel?
