Guest Nick_Toth
The power seat on my dad's 63 Riv doesn't work. It's like one side is trying to slide but the other side won't move so it just binds up. I looked under the seat and it looks like only one side is powered. Does the other side just need a little grease? Do you usually have to take the seat out and degrease the track or can I just spray something on there? RivNut
Remove the seat. Chances are the big screw that's part of the mechanism is full of crud. Trying to operate the seat packs the crud in the threads. Clean it good then re-lube it. Only one side is geared, the other side just goes along for the ride.Ed
TexRiv_63
Nick,Another tip: after you clean and lube both sides of the mechanism, run a dedicated ground wire from clean metal to the seat frame next to where the motor attaches. On my 63 I ran the wire under the carpet and up to the dashboard frame. Even though my seat was working it worked a lot better with a good ground. Guest ahhh65riv
If a guy needed a replacement for the seat tracks (for whatever reason)for the 63-65 rivs, is there another cross compatible GM part? Perhaps even some that is still available?Erik Edited November 13, 2009 by ahhh65riv spelling (see edit history)
