Erndog
 I have removed all of the valves from the engine. Now I need to get the springs out. Is there a trick to this? I have the big snap-on valve spring compressor that looks like a giant c-clamp. It doesn't do much good once the valves are out. Should I try to grab one of the lower spring coils and remove the retainer plate so that the tappet will enter the spring and thus allow the spring to drop low enough to remove? Do I need to get a different type of spring compressor? Any ideas are welcome. I need to get these out so I can remove the cam and get the block hot tanked.Thanks. Erndog
Got 'em out. I was using the wrong type of spring compressor, but made it work anyway. Live and learn, haven't had a problem before on other flatheads.
