91 side window weatherstrip leak - need help

My 91 coupe has developed a rain leak at the top of the passenger window near the angle where the small fixed 'vent' window meets the main window that travels up/down. Is this a common place for the weatherstrip to start to fail? Is there a good replacement? Is there a way to rejuvenate the existing weatherstrip. The car has been stored indoors 96% of its life and the weatherstrip is not dry, cracked, etc.

Appreciate your help - it rains a lot in FL !!!

Regards

Ron

I probably have the same problem, and I am repairing it at a snails pace due to cost. I bought some 91 door weatherstrips from Jim Finn. Had the w/strips replaced at a friends upholstery shop at a reduced cost of $150.00 (difficult job). I am waiting now to get enough money to take the car to a glass shop to have the windows adjusted to the weatherstrips (replacing the window motors at the same time) at a cost of somewhere around 200.00 a side. A very difficult trial and error job as well. The Cost - It hurts a lot :(.

I'd be tempted to just put a small bead of black RTV where it leaks. I've heard that most Reattae have a problem there, my coupe does but not enough that I have ever bothered to do anything about it.

Once had a '63 Corvette coupe that in a hard corner you could see an inch of daylight between the door and the body. Was fast anyway.

On my '90 I had a leak in the same place. I discovered that the window motor was lazy and didn't push the window all the way tight against the weatherstrip. I found that if I opened the door and then operated the window, it would go all the way up. It was an easy fix until I tear into the door and replace the window motor.

Greg[/quote']My window motor is good but I still do what you describe if I know I will be driving in rain or washing the car. It seals better to roll up the window before closing the door.
