Nice car. Weren't these the cars that were barred from demolition derby use because they were almost indestructible?

Yes, actually. They are banned from demolition derbies, but not before a significant number of them were destroyed in the derbies. It's because the frame (last year before unibody) Extends so far out under the radiator.

the derbies in Phoenix USED to be full of them, and the B body GM station wagons with the clamshells

then (apparently all across the US) the Imperial was banned

all the $200 Imperials sitting in carports then went to the crusher (after the engine & trans was yanked for other projects) instead of going to the "derby"

before they became popular it was the Cadillacs with the huge cavity behind the grille/bumpers that protected the radiator, they used to rule
