SEE NEW ANNOUNCEMENT BELOW THIS ONE. Below is the preliminary information from Harold Wintz for next year’s get together. An email will be sent (using his daughter's email) in the near future to all members with an email listed in the membership list. Harold would like a response indicating your interest in attending, so he can proceed with the plans. Replies to this request will go to kelch7@mchsi.com. CHANDLER-CLEVELAND TOUR 2010, DECORAH, IOWA, JUNE 15-18. We will be traveling the back roads, through the hills and hollers of North East Iowa sampling Czech and Norwegian culture and food. Mansions, churches, butterflies, clocks, seeds, and the Little House on the Prairie.

Tuesday registration in the afternoon with evening mixer with traditional Norwegian food. WEDNESDAY tour to Burr Oak (Laura Ingalls Wilder childhood home) What’s New antique store (in a remodeled 3 story barn) Seed Savers Heritage Farm (preserving heirloom seeds and Ancient White Park cattle) Vesterheim Norwegian American Museum and Dunning Springs (200 foot natural waterfall.)THURSDAY tour to Spillville to the Bily Clocks and the oldest Czech church in the US with lunch in Spillville (a traditional homemade Czech menu) Fort Atkinson (1840 US fort built to protect the Winnebago Indians) St. Anthony Padua Chapel (the world’s smallest church) Porter House Museum (an 1867 Italianate villa that houses unique collection of exotic butterflies and rocks & minerals). FRIDAY tour to Clermont to visit Montauk (the 1874 mansion home of the 12<SUP>th</SUP> governor of Iowa), concert on the 1896 pipe organ at the Union Sunday School, lunch at the Quarry and shopping at the town’s specialty shops, and closing evening banquet.

Reservations: (888) 201-1746 Telephone: (563) 382-9646 Fax: (563) 382-4201 A block of 25 rooms held until May 15, 2010. Rate - $86 plus tax. From Rochester, MN -- about 65 miles south. From La Crosse, WI – about 65 miles west. (The change is due to hotel scheduling.) Events will be the same as the original posting described. However, they will now start on Monday, June 14, and conclude on Thursday, June 17. We are so pleased to be hosting this tour, and we hope you will be able to come spend a few days with us enjoying the Norwegian and Czech heritage, the antiques, the history, the shopping, and the great scenery of northeast Iowa. We have some surprises in store. There will be ooohs, ahhs, smiles, and lots of great food in our "Fields of Opportunities." Registration materials will be available soon.
