Guest rbl2
I’d been hearing rumors about a junkyard that is about 15 miles from my house. Those rumors being that there were more than a few antique cars there. I finally decided to check it out and sure enough there are cars from about 1940 through the mid 60’s. Only one runs, a Buick, ca. 1950. I asked the owner for a ball park price on his cars and except for the Buick he said it would be between $6-800. He is also willing to sell parts off of these cars. I took about 60 pictures. It was a very bright, sunny day and I had a difficult time seeing the cars through the viewers. My apologies for not being able to take better pictures. Being on dial up I cannot possibly post these pics so I’ll enclose links instead. If anyone is interested in any of these cars contact me via PM and I’ll give you the owners phone number as well as my own. Be advised that due to a death in the family I will be out of town for a few days and may be slow to respond. I will get back to you upon my return. BillPS For whatever reasons these links have to be copied and pasted into your address bar. I've never had that problem before and don't understand why I would now. Again, my apologies. The first 4 pictures are of the running Buick. He told me you have to pour gas in the carb. If memory serves me correctly he said he would let it go for about $1,000 but please don’t quote me on that. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y154/rbl2/junkyard%20cars/DSC00003.jpghttp://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y154/rbl2/junkyard%20cars/DSC00005.jpghttp://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y154/rbl2/junkyard%20cars/DSC00006.jpghttp://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y154/rbl2/junkyard%20cars/DSC00006.jpgThe rest are random pics. Some are of early 60’s Studebakers. There are also Chevys from the early 50’s and some Fords from the early to mid 50’s. Y’all will just have to look to see what all is there. I know there is a ranchero and a 55 Pontiac (very rough) that came from the factory with a standard transmission.http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y154/rbl2/junkyard%20cars/DSC00011.jpghttp://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y154/rbl2/junkyard%20cars/DSC00012.jpghttp://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y154/rbl2/junkyard%20cars/DSC00013.jpghttp://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y154/rbl2/junkyard%20cars/DSC00014.jpghttp://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y154/rbl2/junkyard%20cars/DSC00015.jpghttp://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y154/rbl2/junkyard%20cars/DSC00016.jpghttp://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y154/rbl2/junkyard%20cars/DSC00017.jpghttp://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y154/rbl2/junkyard%20cars/DSC00018.jpghttp://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y154/rbl2/junkyard%20cars/DSC00019.jpghttp://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y154/rbl2/junkyard%20cars/DSC00020.jpgRancherohttp://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y154/rbl2/junkyard%20cars/DSC00021.jpghttp://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y154/rbl2/junkyard%20cars/DSC00022.jpghttp://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y154/rbl2/junkyard%20cars/DSC00023.jpg57 Chevy, soldhttp://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y154/rbl2/junkyard%20cars/DSC00024.jpghttp://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y154/rbl2/junkyard%20cars/DSC00025.jpgThis Edsel, I’m told, had been completely restored when a tree fell on it. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y154/rbl2/junkyard%20cars/DSC00026.jpgStudebakers, ca. 1950http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y154/rbl2/junkyard%20cars/DSC00027.jpghttp://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y154/rbl2/junkyard%20cars/DSC00028.jpghttp://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y154/rbl2/junkyard%20cars/DSC00029.jpghttp://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y154/rbl2/junkyard%20cars/DSC00030.jpghttp://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y154/rbl2/junkyard%20cars/DSC00031.jpgChevy’s, ca. 1950http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y154/rbl2/junkyard%20cars/DSC00032.jpghttp://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y154/rbl2/junkyard%20cars/DSC00033.jpghttp://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y154/rbl2/junkyard%20cars/DSC00034.jpghttp://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y154/rbl2/junkyard%20cars/DSC00035.jpghttp://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y154/rbl2/junkyard%20cars/DSC00036.jpgStudebaker, ca. 1940-41. Guest rbl2
I think the prices are about right too. No doubt the man will barter some. There are a few cars in there I would like to see restored. If that Pontiac hadn't been in such rough condition (the floor is completely gone) I would have been tempted to get it myself. as it is, I have enough to do with my 26. Guest rbl2
I didn't ask. While he did say he would sell parts off the other cars I presumed he wanted to sell the Buick as is. I can ask, no harm there.

R Walling
rbl2; I am qurious about the grass. It looks like he moves the cars once a week in order to mow it. Most junk yard pic's show over grown woods with trees growing up between the steering wheel.
Paul Dobbin
I agree with Roger, what a beautiful lawn for a junk yard. Our local U-Pull-Itisn't even that clean and they change stock completely about every 90 days?Looks like a "Concourse De Junkegance"

Paul Dobbin
What a great advertisement for having some goats to keep the pastures clean and trimmed. Funny I didn['t see any goats standing on the cars.I want a goat or two now! Anybody know how many goats per acre inNC to keep the lawn work done? MCHinson
I have no idea, but in NC the Cooperative Extension Service has agents that can answer that question for you.North Carolina Cooperative Extension: HomeSpecifically, http://www.cals.ncsu.edu/an_sci/extension/animal/meatgoat/MGVeget.htm
Guest rbl2
I was going to get a few goats to keep my yard trimmed but I'm told they're a PITA to keep. They have to be fenced in and even then you hope and pray they don't escape. I was also told if there's something to climb on they'll climb it, including the stairs into your house. If one were to come in my house I could handle that with a baseball bat but if one were to climb my 26 Chevy I'd have a, as the British say, a bloody mess to clean up. Sheep might not be a bad idea to use as a yard service.

They have to be fenced in and even then you hope and pray they don't escape. You are correct. About the only way to keep them at home is to use one of the long stakes that people use to tie dogs out, a sturdy chain and a good halter. the stake is like a big nail with a piece of metal about half way down that keeps it from pulling out of the ground. There is a swivel that keeps the chain from getting tangled.Sheep might not be a bad idea to use as a yard service.Another B-A-A-A-A-D idea. Sheep have to be sheared so you have to find someone to do that. Stick with (John) Deere.
Guest rbl2
The good thing about both goats and sheep is that in the later part of the year when their services are no longer required for yard work you can invite them in for dinner.
