Aluminum cleaning

If you are going to rebuild the engine you could have it Vapour(wet)blasted. It cleans the aluminium off and brings it up with a brand new finish. If you haven't seen one, a vapour blaster is like a large sand blasting cabinet and it uses high pressure water, air and glass beads. The photo of the black sump is how it came of an engine that hadn't been run since 1959. I spent about 4 hours trying to clean it with degreaser ect and it was still just as black. The color was ingrained into the alloy. 1 hour in the vapour blaster and this is the end result. Magic. If you have a look at this site you will see a vapour blaster in action.
