Hupp36
Hi Birdman The capicity of the crank case is 6 gts. If the cork float has not been replaced since the car was built, they tend to soak up oil and give a false reading on the gage that is on the side of the engine. People tend to over fill the crankcase be cause of this problem with the cork float. Any more questions, feel free to ask. If I cannot answer your question the Hupmobile Club has Technical advisors that will glagly help you. The NH Hupp Nutt Chuck

Hupp36
Gene olson has made a new run of head gaskets and have an add in the Hupp parts locator. I am not sure of the price but I think its $125. Sounds like you are going to do an engine job. If you need the head torque for the bolts I will have to look it up. Chuck
Hupp36
Gene The head bolt nuts should be torqued to 65-70 Lbs. Before installing the head bolt nuts, chase the bolts with a die and the nuts with a tap. Then oil the bolts with motor oil to get an even torque on the nuts. Start in the center and work out in a small circle and keep making it bigger. I use 3 sequences. Start with 25 Lbs, 50 Lbs and then 65 Lbs. After you have run the engine for about an hour, re torque to 70 Lbs. I have had good results using this method.
