1912 Maxwell Special

Recommended Posts

I am in the process of restoring my Maxwell special, the engine is the 40 HP T head engine. I am taking suggestions as to what the crankshaft bearing clearance should be. This is a forced/splash type of oiling system. I have a measurement of .003 on the mains right now. But for example a Ford A engine which is almost similar in oiling has a .001 to .002 clearance. I'm of the opinion it needs to tighten up a little. Thanks in advance for your experience. Rick
