The name of the optional color you are looking for is Dante Red. It is matched with French White pinstriping.

Dear 48Buick:

I have a little bad news. According to the parts book, Dante Red wheels are NOT optional for 1948.

I think you will find that your paint code is 29, which says the upper is "Nickel Grey" (Duco 207-3911) and the bottom is "Cumulus Grey" (Duco 253-55066). Paint on wheels is "Cumulus Grey (Dulux B94-55066) with a stripe of "French White" (Dulux 289-53561).

Dante Red is optional as a wheel color for many years including 1947 and 1949, but not 1948.(At least according to the parts book.)

Regards, Dave Corbin

Dave,

You're right on the money. My Master Parts Book says exactly the same thing. But then I looked at the judge's manual. . . and reread the question.
