'23 Buick oil drain

It's been several years since I changed the oil in my 1923 Buick Ser. 45, and I can't figure out how to work the oil drain. I turn the "L" shaped reach rod, and nothing drains. I push it down and turn (it's spring loaded") and still no luck. If it is just turned to the left, it spins with no action. The manual doesn't say how to open the oil drain. It also has it located on the right side of the engine, and mine is on the left side next to the dipstick? Anyone have a '22 or '23 Buick six that has an idea?

Mark, does your have a spring-loaded "L" shaped reach rod? Do you push down and turn, just push down, or just turn this thing? The reach rod end on mine has always been facing away from the block. Should it be turned a half turn and facing toward the block to be open/drain?

Thanks,

Tom
