327
I might, I repeat MIGHT have found a 1929 Packard 640 2 dr. with rumble seat to buy. The problem is I know very little about these particular Packards and their worth. I looked on the Packard website and there seems to be more than one model like this, how do you know what it exactly is?
Restorer32
Check the stamped number on the data plate on the firewall and get back to us.

West Peterson
Also, there's a number stamped on the engine mounting "horn," driver's side, top, front. That will verify what engine is in it.
Guest superods
Hey 327...would you like some incentive to purchase that beautiful 29 for the asking price on ebay? I am thinking about buying it. Ask anyone here ...when I make up my mind look out! Seriously....you cannot go wrong at the buy now price on that car 327 unless the engine is blown the trans slips and you have wheel shimmy to beat the band. I was most suprixed to see a rumble seat coupe that nice in photos for 22k. Get on it now !!!!
Restorer32
Is there a link? I can't seem to find it on E-Bay.
West Peterson
The one on eBay is a '28, and it's not a Super Eight.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Packard-526-3-Window-Coupe-Rare-Collector-Car-1928-Packard-Coupe-w-Rumble-Seat_W0QQitemZ140289267599QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_Cars_Trucks?hash=item140289267599&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245&_trkparms=72%3A727%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318#ht_500wt_1473

West Peterson
Big difference in value between a Super Eight and a Standard Eight.
Guest superods
Very true...how much they want for the Super Eight?
327
vehicle # 178471frame # 178289engine # 178876cthis is the info seller gave me.
Restorer32
The engine # would indicate a Sixth series 640 or 645. The c makes no sense. The data plate should read 346-production # if it is a Club Coupe. 348-prod # if a Coupe. Can he supply you with the wheelbase? Obviously 140" if a 640 and 145" if a 645. Guest imported_Speedster
The car pictured Looks like a '28 526.Certainly Not a 640 or 645!The engine may be a different story, tho. Which is Okay.
Guest 1928Packard526
327 —I'm with Speedster on this one. The car on the ebay listing is a 1928 526 6 cylinder car. The seller even says as much in his posting. The pictures confirm it as well. Since I have a 526 sedan I can make a close comparison quite easily. Just why did you think it was a 1929 640 or 645? Is there another car out there?Pete P.

Restorer32
The engine # is within the # range for the Sixth Series 640 and 645. Maybe renumbered?
