Not sure this is a problem, but I wince every time I turn my headlights off and they slam (well, drop very quickly and audibly) back down. Do I need to learn to live with the wincing? Thanks.

Has anybody thought about putting in something to lower the voltage at the connector? I think that would work. Just too much power. I think that slamming is what wears out those cranks.

If the headlight are slamming shut you probably have bad bellcranks or rollers inside the motor.

Slamming open will also happen when you are driving and turn on the light....the air slammes them open.

What happens.....when you turn off the headlights (and they close) the motor turns the bellcrank and they start down,

if there is slop in the mechanism, once they go over center, the weight of the headlight causes it to free-fall because it can....with all the slop.

Here is a picture that show a pile of plastic from pulverized rollers.
