Guest abh3usn
My next project is to rebuild the brake system. The car has set for 10 years so the brake lines are dry. Should I flush them out with brake fluid or is there something else I can use?
Roger Huntoff
I vote for brake fluid, anything strong enough to clean the lines would need to be thoroughly removed or it may continue working and damage the new seals,do repeated flushings with brake fluidany cleaner would need to be somthing that completly evaporates and dissappears with out a trace
Jim Bollman
I vote for spray brake cleaner followed by a little compressed air. That is what I used when I converted to silicon brake fluid. I had rebuilt all the cylinders but wanted the lines clean.
Bhigdog
For DOT 3, solvent of choice would be pure methanol alcohol followed by brake fluid.......Bob
