David Hines
Hi Guys:My 90 Rivi has developed a bad habit - her tail lights will remain on for an extended period after the other lights have shut off. Turning the twilight sent. off and trying to over-ride with the manual off/on won't shut them off, either. Only repeated cycles of starting/stopping the engine works. Bad relay/switch? Where is the culprit located? Thanks
JohnD1956
I wonder if these go through a body control computer. I know the neighbor's 90 riv had to have that replaced once. Of course I would start by cleaning all the ground connections before doing any computer part replacements.
Mark Shaw
Just an interesting bit of trivia....The 1929 Buick was the first to have a clear lens for a backup light. When the car is placed in reverse, the stop/backup light would come on. I learned the hard way that you can't park a 29 Buick in reverse gear for very long before the battery goes dead. It was not wired through the ignition switch.
Guest abh3usn
Could it be something as simple as a sticking stop light switch?
David Hines
Thanks for all your thoughts. It only affects the tail lights and license plate light, not the stop lights. This week, with the cooler weather perhaps, it has been behaving itself. Problably just lulling me into a false sense of security!
