I have handed down a few stocks for the Fox Motor Car Company. Dated between 1916 And 1922 (and several other stocks) and Two Gold bonds. And I would like to know if anyone can tell me anything about this Company. It was incorperated in Delaware. Thanx J. P.

Judith,
I can tell you a little about the Fox. It was made in Philadelphia, PA from 1921-23. It had an air cooled engine and was a major competitor of the Franklin automobile. The Fox was bigger and faster than the Franklin, but cost a lot more too. Prices ran from $3,900 to $4,900. Production figues were very low and very few exsist today. I used to see one at Macungie,a local car show here in S.E. PA, but it seems to have disappeared as I haven't seen it lately. I hope this information helps.
------------------
tsauto@v35.com
AACA member

THE Fox that you saw at the Macugie car show belogs to Tom Kidd from Old Zionsville Pa.[a suburb of Macungie]I believe he bought it from Harrah when they sold off the collection.Fox was built in Philadelphia Pa.by the same company that made the excelent Fox shot gun.It was much larger than the Franklin, and it was aircooled like the Franklin. The unique feature of the engine is that it had a gear driven overhead camshaft.Tom Kidds fox is an excelent original four door sedan.Phil

Trainguy,
That's the car! I forgot where it was from, turns out it's only about 2 miles up the road from me. I haven't seen it for some time now. Maybe it'll be at Macungie this weekend, I'll have to look for it.
------------------
tsauto@v35.com
AACA member

In Automotive Industries 1922 there is some information:

Automotive industries

I first stumbled on this rare air-cooled in John Nerén's Automobilens historia. The previous owner of my copy had written the name with pencil. Otherwise I hadn't ever known that such a car ever existed.

But I did then know the Holmes and it's relation to the more popular Franklin.
