jscheib
Rob,Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I wonder if you could get the story of it from the owner? That is quite a find.John
imported_75RivGS
Next time I see the owner or Buick I will try to get some more on the car or maybe even better direct him to this board and let him introduce the car here.At least it appears the car won a prize (AACA!!)in the Delaware area. Could such a prize (1st) still be confirmed by AACA??
jscheib
Someone in the AACA a lot longer then me, might be able to clarify, but I think what you see on the tire is actually a tour flag, but it does say 1st. John
Chris Paulsen
I could be wrong, but it looks alot like the one that was toured heavily on Long Island, NY for years. It was an old restoration. It was then sold and went out west about 5-6 years ago. It was at Chickasha and other swap meets for a few years. It appears to even have the badge from the Wheel, Spark and Throttle Club, which I believe was the NY/NJ area. Even the Moto-Meter reads NY. If this isn't that car, I would be surprised. It sounds like it should be an interesting "barn-find" story either way.Respectfully,Chris
Fr. Buick
I believe I saw it for sale out in California the first part of this year. I think it as at San Diego. It looked like it would be a great project!!Happy Wrenching,Doug Cook
bubba
Chris,As soon as I saw it I thought the same thing. I live on Long Island and I remember talking to the owner. I had pics that he sent me. There was a car like this one in Hitchcock's "The Trouble With Harry" and the family that owned it then was looking for it at the time that it was for sale. Mark Shaw
Model 31 Buicks are great tour cars with plenty of power and they relatively easy to maintain. This is an early one with gas lights and brass fittings. Feel free to contact me if you need some additional mechanical info on this car.
hddennis
Okay, I guess everybody here flunks history class! Delaware is called the "First State" because it was the first of the original 13 colonies and on December 7, 1787, Delaware, became the first state to ratify the United States Constitution. The tour flag refers to these facts and not a class award by this car.Howard Dennis
imported_75RivGS
A small update from a third party; ( I didn't trace the owner yet again) The Buick was bought 20 years ago and back than shipped to Europe where it was 'garaged' in a barn till a few years ago.Still will try to find the owner to get the real story.@ hddennis: that makes sense.... really wasn't aware of that fact. Chris Paulsen
I just thought I would bring this back to the top to see if there was any new info. Unfortunately, I could not find my photos of the car I was thinking of from NY.Thanks,Chris
Oxnard Montalvo
It must have been a postwar transplant as you gents suggest. There is no way all that brass would have survived TWO war efforts in Germany.
imported_75RivGS
I attempted a few times to get in touch with the German owner to get the whole story.... but no luck so far. Hopefully I will see him and his Buick on a show next season.
birdman3
The movie "Trouble with Harry" was filmed in VT and my family loaned the movie crew the use of my grandfather's 1913 Buick for the film. This looks just like it. We have been searching for the car. We have the serial number and would like to find the car, its present owner and its history of sale and resale. If you have any information that you can forward to us, we'd greatly appreciate it.
imported_75RivGS
Although I had in mind to wait and try to get in contact with the owner or the Buick during next meetings season I will now try to get that information sooner. As soon as I have info I will inform you
