55 Special Rear Window Moulding

Only Buicks

Recommended Posts

I received a call yesterday from a gentleman who would like to remove the Stainless molding from around the rear window so he can have it polished. I looked thru my manuals and can not find any info. to help this guy out. I am restoring a 55 Century but it is a convertible so of course the rear window is totally different. Can anyone help with some information? Is this held on with clips or is it like the windsheild where the moulding fits into a channel in the rubber molding?

If it's like the '56 Century, and you're talking about the outside trim...

The key is the C-shaped trim piece of trim at the sides of the rear window where the upper and lower trims meet. It is held on by two screws from the INSIDE of the car--you need to remove the inside trim first. The rest of the outside trim just snaps in.
