Guest Good Old Days
Hello! Is there anyone among you who has ever transported a car already dismantled in a container? Is it possible to hire someone, on distance, to pack the parts so they won't be damaged during the voyage?Any ideas??Transport is overseas! 1937hd45
Is the chassis is a roller or just a pile of parts? Depending on what year vehicle it is and how far apart it has been taken will determine how much container space it will take up. You may be able to accept other parts from collectors to help offset the costs. If it was within an hour drive I might consider making an offer on packing it. R W Burgess
Here you go guys. I suggested that it needed to be boxed up. Your opinions?Carmine wrote....I got in contact with a fellow Studebaker fan and he wants to sell me a car from 1926, but entirely taken apart. Engine rebuilt, chrome work redone and so on,If I’m interested in this car in parts, what is the best way to transport this to Europe . I know we have to put in a container, but how do we put all in without having damage during the trip?By the way the car is near Phoenix , Valley of the Sun. Reatta Man
Enough $$ will get anything shipped anywhere! Just go Google "shippers".
Guest Good Old Days
Thanks for looking! The car is not a rolling chassis, but entirely dismantled. Will take a 20ft container, but stuff needs to be packed I think and shippers do not pack things like this very easily. If the parts are just like that in the container it's very clear that they will not arrive in good shape, I guess.Perhaps box all the parts, but who?Does anyone have experience with things like this? Bill Stoneberg
In former lifes, I have worked for an Oilfield Supply Company and we shipped overseas in containers. We used a freight forwarding company who would pick up the parts and pack and insure everything. Depending on how much we had, they also would bring a container and pack in the yard to ensure everything was there.
Mark Shaw
I suggest that you should re-install the body on the frame and pre-pack the parts to ride inside the body. You needn't re-install everything, just enough to hold the loose parts and secure the load for a standard vehicle transporter.
Guest Good Old Days
Thank you Mark and others, you gave me quite some good ideas!Re-install the body is a good one, strapping the frame must be very easy. It's nice to have so many friends who help you out on a distance! Will let you know what happens.
