Guest jumpinjivinjoe
I'm 16 and I just got a <span style="text-decoration: underline">1936 dodge coupe</span> that my grandpa courted my grandma in. What model of Carter BB-1 carburetors did they put in this car? I need to know so that I can get a rebuild kit.
carbking
Dodge did NOT use a Carter carburetor on passenger vehicles in 1936. Stromberg was used by Dodge in 1936 on passenger vehicles. If you have a Carter, it would be incorrect; thus you should ascertain whether the carburetor is applicable to your engine (by carburetor identification number) before buying a kit. The identification number will be necessary to buy the kit as well. Here is a listing of original carburetors used by Dodge.http://www.thecarburetorshop.com/Kdodge.htmJon. Guest jumpinjivinjoe
Well thats odd. I have a Carter BBR-1 carburetor in it. I believe dodge used this in 1935 according to http://www.carburetor.ca/carbs/catalog/Dodge/Dodge6.htm Where is the identification number? I do not see any brass tag. carbking
If you look at the website you referenced, you will note that it is Canadian. The 1935 Canadian Dodge did use a Carter, the USA version did not.I assumed, perhaps incorrectly, that you had a USA produced vehicle. The early Carter BBR series are EXTREMELY DIFFICULT to identify once the tag has been removed, as Chrysler Corporation did not want Carter to stamp the code number as they did for GM, Hudson, etc. Beginning in 1939, Carter did stamp the part number on the strengthening vane; which was added in 1939 to reduce warpage.http://www.thecarburetorshop.com/Carburetor_ID.htm#IDCarterJon.
