For the technicians among you, the separation from a DS body and it's engine!

We have to overhaul this engine because off major damage to the block.

Now you can see the inside of this fantastic french automobile, although the owner isn't so happy for the moment.

We will try to get this nice DS 21 Pallas hydraulique on the road again so he can enjoy the summer with his car!

More to come.

Nice photos Carine. I had to rebuild my DSpecial's engine at 96,000 miles, but that was becuase the timing chain broke. They are very robust engines. Of course mine was the smaller engine, not the 2100.

Thank you Dave smile.gif

I taught you guys liked seeing these pics perhaps, I learned that you don't see it often overthere. For us very familair daily work!

That's sore, a broken chain, I must say it doesn't happen very often, but you had the bad luck! sick.gif

The engines are very robust. By the way it's a problem with SM engines, the chain breaking!

This engine (2100 DX2) needed repair because the block was corroded due to cooling problems. The waterpump housing was leaking and then it came out what was wrong.

See attached pictures from the remaning parts.

Hope you like them as well!

It's my car on the front! blush.gif

Hi Carine,

I have always wanted an SM, but have been hesitant to take one on. Right now I'm still spending too much $$ on my 47 Cadillac to think about it. I know about the timing chain issues on the Maserati V6. I understand there is a Mercedes 5 cylinder timining chain that will fit, which has much better oil journals and is less prone to stretching or failure. I know you need to keep on top of the tensioners, and the rear is a pain to get to. Perhaps one of these days I'll yet end up with one.

Hi Dave,

Before you buy an SM think about it twice, they can (not always) be a pain in the ...

The model and the sound of the Maserati V6 are very tempting, only starting the engine can get you high, beware!

About the timing chain, the original can be used if you keep good attention on the tensioners. But don't forget that only changing a battery takes quite a bit of your afternoon!

Nevertheless a special headturner! The steering is tricky as well.

I like your taste! smile.gif

A 47 Cadillac is not so bad at all!!!
