I would like to buy a 1955 Packard Clipper or Senior car with conventional suspension (coil springs - front and leave spring - rear) and equipped with a manual shift transmission (overdrive a plus). The vehicle must be in good condition (3 or better). I want a good driving car, good condition inside and outside. Price depending on condition. Call at 512-342-7178 or e-mail at mail@johnwlawrence.com.

Peter: thanks for the suggestion. It is in the Packard forum as well with the correct phone number.

The telephone number should be 512-342-7874, not the one shown in the ad.

just a question: why the coil springs over the torsion level suspension? The T-L suspensions is remarkable, mechanical trouble is very rare in the torsion bars and links, easily repaired electrical situations can arise but are no big deal. I love the fact that you can gun the engine when you come to a RR crossing that modern motorists have to crawl over. You can find Clippers with front coil springs and rear leafs but I don't know of many senior cars so equipped.

"let the ride decide"

mrpushbutton, just a personal preference, a less complicated automobile. I agree, there were probably few if any Senior cars with the conventional suspension. There were some manual shift Senior cars; although, many have been converted from the Twin Ultramatic over the years. I may have to settle for a TL car, if it is REALLY good, but will hold firm on the manual shift transmission. I see your postings on the packardinfo.com site, and am impressed with the work you do on those push button Ultramatics.

Update on WTB 1955 Packard: I would consider a Torsion Level equipped Clipper if it is especially nice. Prefer a Constellation or Panama. Thanks - John
