Guest wk's_olds
Earlier this week here in SE Wyoming, it was unseasonably warm and sunny! The perfect weather for a ride in an old car! Here's a couple of videos of the occasion:<embed width="448" height="361" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" src="http://img.photobucket.com/player.swf?file=http://vidmg.photobucket.com/albums/v129/poobie2/PAride.flv"><embed width="448" height="361" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" src="http://img.photobucket.com/player.swf?file=http://vidmg.photobucket.com/albums/v129/poobie2/rumble.flv">
keiser31
Looks more like a great time to SIT in an old car. Beautiful Pierce Arrow.
Guest wk's_olds
As the mechanic for the museum, it's my job to take these cars out and drive them occasionally to keep them in condition. So, my thinking is, (since I'm rather kid oriented anyhoo) to educuate these kids-my grandkids and their friends-about the world of antique autos, and build some cool memories at the same time? I see no harm in it at all, and plenty of good. I can barely remember riding in a rumble seat as a small child. It's a good memory, though, and these kids seem to be enjoying themselves, too. That's my view.
keiser31
wk's_old...It's a great view to have. I took a friend's grandchild (9 years old at the time) for a ride in my 1931 Dodge coupe. All I hear from his family is about how he goes on and on and on about how much fun he had in that old car. He's about 16 now and still talks it up about that ride. That's what I call "making an impression". And if he ever gets into old cars, I will nurture him as much as I can. Yippee.....I have turned another kid on to old cars!! K8096
My 4 year daughter old last summer. Wife doesn't like the picture because her clothes don't match.
Shop Rat
Not to worry, I bet Peter G. or West could fix that easily. It is a great photo and one day she and your wife will be glad you took it regardless of her outfit.
keiser31
I love it, K8069....looks like she just outgrew the tricycle in the background and is ready to take on the Packard. Who needs training wheels? Better get an extra set of keys!
Guest wk's_olds
Thanks! I misunderstood your first reply; I thought you meant it was better to have the kids SIT in the car rather than go for rides. My mistake! Yes, kids never forget these old car episodes! keiser31
I say take the kids whenever possible. In my coupe, I always make sure that the windshield is cranked open all the way so the kids get the full effect of the "old car" experience. Along with the open cowl vents, this insure that they get the aroma of the old flat head doing it's job.
keiser31
Here is a shot from 1982 of my beautiful daughter, Rhiana in my 63,000 original mile 1955 Dodge Custom Royal Lancer 2-door hardtop. I don't usually name my cars, but I called this car "Neopolitan" because it's colors reminded me of the triple flavor ice cream. Those seats still had the plastic over them protecting the original Jaquard upholstery. It had the 270 Super Red Ram Hemi with the automatic shifter coming out of the dashboard. What a beautiful rolling ride that car was.

V.Milke
Two of my three kids in a 1933 American Austin roadster. The driver, just 14 last week, will be the owner by his next birthday, if he helps on the restoration.... which I am hoping he will do.Victor
Shop Rat
Cute car and even cuter kids. Your son will be the envy of all his friends when that car is restored.

Guest wk's_olds
I was glad that my granddaughter turned the camera at the shadow; it shows the silhouette of the car. A good touch.

Guest wk's_olds
I took my 14 year old grandson for a ride in the '22 Stutz today. He hasn't been able to be involved much with the old cars because he has been catching up on his school work. He was under restrictions, but he's caught up now. Here's a video of me explaining to him how I remidied the valve lifter sticking problem. Then in the 2nd video, we took a short ride.<embed width="448" height="361" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" src="http://img.photobucket.com/player.swf?file=http://vidmg.photobucket.com/albums/v129/poobie2/stutzride3.flv"><embed width="448" height="361" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" src="http://img.photobucket.com/player.swf?file=http://vidmg.photobucket.com/albums/v129/poobie2/stutzride.flv">
