Guest superods
There are more Packards on ebay today then there have been as of late.....65 listed on two pages. I do not remember the last time there was a second page at one time. People need money no doubt so they are selling. Unfortunately not many are buying. And those doing so want a deal. I am considering the 32 convertible coupe.... How much is it worth in the state it appears? I say no more than 30k and I am being generous. Let me know your thoughts please. Restorer32
I doubt you'll buy it for 30K. More like 45K. An interesting auction to watch.

If I remember rightly, a similar thing happened last year and it seemed to be raining Packards at that time. I'd expect the number to taper off as they are sold or the listings come to an end and are not re-listed because the rates/commission return to their normal levels. I only look at Packards but I'd expect this to be across many or all makes, can anyone confirm this has occurred?

Guest superods
Restorer....the motor was redone 15 years ago...the driver's rear fender does not exist... you have to make one out of the two sedan fenders he is including. No gauges...no interior...who knows the condition of the wood. Lots of question marks on this car. I can buy it out right for 35k. Offered him 30..that is my limit on this one. Guest superods
Well Tom.....the motor and trans have not been attended to in at least 15 years...so called rebuild. I am not about to dump a ton into that aspect of the vehicle...it does not run now.... so this is a candidate to refit. I offered 30k....he wants 35...suppose to have two guys interested and one coming today. He was aful anxious to take my money yesterday with a person coming today who said he would pay him 35k. I think when that man gets there and sees the amount of work necessary to get this back to a presentable state.....he may be calling me....you never know. I am trying to trade my last streetrod...a 34 no fendered one of a kind piece to a gentleman in Calif for his 1932 r/s coupe. Think I have a better than 50/50 chance of it happening. Will let you know what happens... BTW the boys are working on the color matches fot the graining..should have that here soon so I can do my work and let you see it. Tom M
Rods,If you were to win the car what will you do with the engine? Sell it off. See I can us an original carb for back up <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: superods</div><div class="ubbcode-body"> BTW the boys are working on the color matches fot the graining..should have that here soon so I can do my work and let you see it. </div></div>Looking forward to it
Guest superods
I do not think is a matter of winning at this point Tom. This fellow will no doubt sell it to highest bidder before auction ends. I am banking on no one offering more than 30k. I have enough cars now and there is always another down the road. If I do get the car I am planning on selling engine trans front and rear suspension gauges and all the ancillary goodies that go with all those items. I will keep steering wheel and sell steering gear. Would like to sell entire package first Tom. Not interested in piecing it out...have not the time or the patience to do so. Guest superods
No worries Tom. I know who my friends are. If you recall you were the first person in here that treated me like a human being and not an ogre !!! You are first on the list my man.Restorer.... As a side note. Just completed my deal with Randy Owen in New Hampshire on the 32 902 Straight 8 rumble seat Convertible Coupe that was up on ebay. Will be traveling to New Hampshire Monday to pick up car. Paid 30k Restorer.... so I already made 15 according to your calculations. I just love when a plan comes together !!!
Guest superods
Just got back from picking up the 32 convertible coupe from Randy Owen in New Hampshire. Paid the man 30k and got one hell of a car. All new wood. Got an album of what was done to the car to get it to the point it is now. It has bounced around since 1987 when Ralph Peiper Auto Parts in Carlisle Pa did the engine work. Worked its way out to Arizona and back to Pa and then to New Hampshire. I got lots of old magazines and diagrams of the 32 coupe and convertible coupe that will be most helpful for the details. I am fortunate to have gotten it for this price. Will work on this and the 32 coupe rumble seat that I just traded a 32 ford street rod for !!! Will post some shots of the cars when I get a chance. Steve_Mack_CT
So Superrods - what will you be doing with this one now that you have had time to assess it? Saw your additional detail on Matt Harwood's post but did not want to "hijck" it. Sounds like a pretty easy restoration if you were to go that route. Just curious, no judgments!Must say your lead on the CA coupe at 20K is interesting..
Guest superods
Steve...If there was such a thing as an easy restoration this is it. My plan is to keep the car for one year and sell it at a profit. With all they completed on the car someone wanting an open Packard will jump at it. Also am selling the two other open cars I own...the 30 Convertible Coupe and the 33 Victoria Convertible. The 30 will go on Sept 24th and the Victoria next May. I am only going to refit closed cars. I am presently driving the 34 5 passenger coupe I just bought and enjoying it for the season. The 32 coupe I just traded for has a bad engine. So he kept it and the trans...those are the "kinds" of Packards I look for to do what I do. Steve_Mack_CT
Sounds like a good overall strategy. But I think those old Packards are working on you slowly - If you cannot resist working on them over the next year you may have to start calling yourself Super-Restorer!
