speedbump
Do any of you know the con rod big end bore diameter? I need to resize a set of rods and cannot find the info in my manuals. The engine is a 36-41 V-12 with a crank pin diameter of 2.126". I measured the bearing inserts plus crank dia and came up with 2.299- 2.301 but am reluctant to hone until I get some solid verification. Thanks! speedbump
Sorry, found this site while searching for Lincoln V-12 info and I mistakenly thought it was a Lincoln Club. It's a 36 to 41 Lincoln V-12 with a 2.126 rod journal. Came out of a 39 Zephyr, I think.
Ivan Saxton
Bearings are steel-backed copper/lead the width of journals, floating in both conrods (mounted side by side.) For standard journal diameter 2.125", inside diameter of bearings should be 2.128". Total diametral clearanceis 0.0015-0.003", with 0.010-0.022" total sideplay. Obviously your need to check that the conrod bores are round and correct size, which you work out from the above. I hope you can still get bearing shells. They would be rather difficult to make except by production method. It is one of few items that I would not like to try to make in my workshop.Ivan Saxton
Guest Parts Wizard
Sorry I took so long to reply. It took me a few days to register. The rod housing bore for this Lincoln V12 should be. 2.298/2.2985.
