Guest jcc3inc
Part IHere is a molding (gutter) to attach to the roof over the windows on a Reatta so that the annoying leaks can be stopped. The molding is made from a Corner Guard (used over outside corners on drywall), and is available from Home Depot. The molding is about 3/4" x 3/4" x 48", is a tough plastic that can be bent without heating, (but not a compound bend), it takes paint well, and can be easily attached to the car roof by using silicon rubber selant.Picture #1 is the Corner Guard.Picture #2 shows the cross section of the modified molding. It is a nominal 3/4" high/wide. One side is cut off to a height of 5/16". The other side is bent as shown with a 1/4" gutter width and a 45 degree bend. The overall length is just under 24", allowing (2) pieces to be made from a single stick. Picture #3 is an end view of three different tries to get an acceptable shape.Picture #4 is the modified pliers that I used to cold bend the 45 degree angle. Luckily I had this tool; a substitute could be made using (2) flats in a vise, clamping the molding to be bent between the two pieces. The modified pliers jaws are 4" long.
