West Peterson
I learned something this morning:1929 Packard 20-inch wheels have an 8-lug hub.1930 Packard 20-inch wheels have a 7-lug hub.Have I assumed too much here? Or...???
jrbartlett
I may be wrong on this, but I think that 1930 Super 8 Packards had 19-inch wire wheels, with 8 lugs. The 29s had 20-inch with 8 lugs.It is possible that the 1930 20-inch wheels with 7 lugs were a holdover from 1929 on the Standard 8 cars.
West Peterson
You're right about the 1930 Super 8s.The 1929 626 sedan has 8-lug wheels, just like the other 1929 wheels.
Guest jjohnb
I have a late 1929 Standard 8 626 with 20-inch wheels and 8 lug bolts.Speedster, what type of wheels do you have on your '29? Is it a 626? Std or Super?
Ed Loyens
Hi guys I,m new to the Packard scene.so my knowledge is very limited as are my computor skills. I bought a 1930 model 733 7 pass. sedan , last year, which I,m restoring. The car came with 19" disc wheels with 7 lugs and a 5-1/2 "centre hole, from reading the manual these should be 20"rims, right? I also purchased threes 1930-31 (the man though) 20"disc wheels which have 8 lugs and a 6 1/2" centre hole and one wire wheel the same size. They are Packard rims, but I don,t know what year???? West Peterson
From what I've recently learned, the 20-inch rims with 8-lugs are for 1929 cars across the board. The 19-inch wheels with 7-lugs are for 1930 super eights. I do not know if the 19-inch wheels from 1931 are the same as 1930.
34PackardRoadsta
Not sure of the size of the rims, but my 733 sedan, delivered in Feb of 1930, has 7 lug disc rims. Here's the photo.
Ed Loyens
:)So do all 1929's have 20 inch - 8 lug and a 6 1/2 inch centre hole and the 1930 model 733 have 20 in.-7 lug and a 5 1/2 in. centre hole. What about the model 745, is it 19in.-8 lug and what size centre hole? Thanks Ed
34PackardRoadsta
Ed,If you have the parts book (the red one) you should be able to look it up. You should at least be able to tell how many lugs they had. My copy is out in the garage, but I will try to remember to check it when I head out there.Tom
