Guest TwoDoorBuickMan
I have owned several Delta 88s and 98s from the mid 80s. I just made a deal for my first Cutlass. It is an un molested 1986 with standard wheels, tires and spoke hubcaps. My question is about the wheels. What options were offered? I have seen several with the chrome Oldsmobile wheels in a 14 in. wheel. Was there a 15 in. option? Were there different widths offered?Does anyone know if these are produced on an aftermarket basis? Thanks for any help.
joe_padavano
The stamped steel Olds sport wheels are called Super Stock II or Super Stock III, depending on the color. They were first released in 1968 in 14x6 and have been available in 14x6, 14x7, and 15x7. All used the 5 x 4 3/4" bolt circle. All the 68-74 wheels used bolt-on centers. The 75-up wheels used snap-in centers. There are a number of different snap-in centers, the chrome with "corrugations", the simple plain cylindrical, the "starfish" brushed finish centers that also covered the lug nuts (first used on the 1977 Indy Pace Car Delta 88). There are also two different styles of stainless bezels for the five cutouts. The chrome wheels (as used on the 1980s 442s) did not use these bezels. The painted versions of the wheels used stainless trim rings, except for the 1970 Rallye 350. The wheel are being reproduced.
