Marek
I have a 89 Reatta with ~80,000 miles that has been sitting for about two years. It needs new brakes and may need a new accumulator. The vehicle is also making a tinny rattling noise when idling. I really don't want to scrap the car and would like to get it road worthy again. Big problem is $. I would like to try to do a lot of the work myself to save $. My questions is...does the work I am facing require complicated tools? I can't afford to spend hundreds/thousands on tools to fix the car. Thank you for any advice/guidance.
Vincent Vega
Most likely you won't need any special tools. Accumulator can be removed with a pipe wrench or allen socket. GM will tell you the rattling noise is normal. Most components of the Reatta are very common. Welcome to the board. Stay away from dealerships for parts and repairs. They do a good job, but are very expensive. Change the fluids before you drive it. 2 years is like 15 in Teves Years.
