Posted in the Pontiac forum but no replies, though I would spread the word...

Long story short. I have been looking for an early car for a loooong time and it turns out I have located one of 8 of these prototype tourers. Unfortunitely it is way to pricey for me. They want to sell but are not realy 'spreading the word' so I vounteered to do it for them - I have no connection and profit in no way fom doing this - just trying to get a rare car in the hands of someone who could appreciate it.

Yes, I know but I wanted to double check with her if it was ok to put her name and number out their on the web. She wants to sell but seems gaurded. So I am just waiting to hear back from her before putting all the details out there. Pictures may be an issue as I do not think it has moved in 10 years.

It would be interesting to see what this vehicle really is.

Pontiac never used "year classification" until 1932". Prior to that it was always series. In all my reference books there is no mention of a touring ever. There is a Phaeton listed in the 6-28 series. This car would have a Stewart body. The first fisher built open body was 1931.

I was put in contact with her from the local club President - and I really appreciate the help since I am not a club member (for some reason). I was initally told it was a 28 touring. But when the owner called me back she stated that it was a 'spec' car - not sure what that means to be honest. The club President also wrote a folow-up email stating that some of the other members may be familiar with the car and stated that it was a 'prototype', Both the owner and President mentioned that it was 1 of 8 made and it is the only known survivor.

The owner is more than willing to let me come over and see it, but I think it is beyond my means and I really don't want to lead her on or pretend I am serious...but if someone with more knowledge than me would like more verification of this car, I will be glad to do the leg work.

So I goit the call today. Some specifics. Car was built in Australia. Was RHD and now is LHD. Owner to possession in 1983 where a full body off restoration took place; swap of steering wheel side. Looks like a tourer to me (no divider).

Body Tag (on gas tank): 72873-27

Price: $50K

Interesting car. Likely a Canadian export to Australia. It has what looks similar to but is not a Stewart Body (which was available in the series 6-28). It has series 6-27 (early) 1926 fenders and a series 6-27 (late) 1927 rad cap. The Hub caps are 1927 as is the instrument panel. It is definately a series 6-27 engine.

Let me guess, the other two are complete and don't need any parts. Sell it as is.

Do you have any further information on this car or who has it now?  This car has sentimental value to my family. I know the history from attaining it in 1983 to its last owner here. The previous owner from 2008 has passed, but I have no other leads. @72caddy Thanks!
