Just some picks of recent things

I just wanted some opinions on the interior, and I figured why not show off the Camaro/Firebird front brakes. I love the car but thought there was way too much maroon for my taste. The whole inviorment of the car change when I did the headliner. I am also going to redo the speaker grills, they have a couple bubles and a bit of glue, but they were the easy part.

The speaker covers look very good!I notice that you are missing the end caps each side of the pull strap,if you want to get some call 1 800 795 9851 and ask for parts number 20587948 for the retainers(4.45 each) and number 20588020 for the end caps(4.43 each).

Daniel, for what it's worth,I like your interior upgrade.The dark gray goes good with the original trim covers. I like your brake upgrade also. You can really see the difference with the wheels you've used. Not sure if you'd get the same effect with the stock wheels.

My opinion--- Very Nice.

Looks great. Am curious though. Where did the rims come from? What size rim/tire combo are they. They look really good on there. I have a 1989 reatta and always thought the rims/tires are small for it.

Finally found the another piece of the puzzle - Late Mustang wheels use a 5x114.3 bolt circle and a 1/2" stud. They also have a 70.3mm hub opening. Reatta hubs are 70.3mm diameter and a 5x115 bolt circle.

Both GM and Mustang wheels are hub-centric and appear to be the same size. This is good and takes loading off the studs.

Now the bolt circle of the Mustang is .7mm smaller (.028") so each GM stud is .35mm (.014") off center but the Ford stud is 1/2" (12.7mm) or .7mm larger than the GM stud which makes the bolt hole slightly larger also, almost exactly the same as the difference in diameter. In other words all of the differences counteract each other and since the lug has a conical tip, it should wedge properly.

Not exactly right but probably inside manufacturing tolerances. I would suggest a multi-step torque sequence.

Which makes me wonder if aftermarket wheel manfacturers just target the middle of the specs and "one size fits all".

Of course other manufacturers use the same 114.3mm (4.5") bolt circle but often with a different size hub, either larger or smaller. For exampe the Chrysler 300M has the same bolt pattern but a 71.5mm hub and most Lexii have a 60.1 mm hub - it could be bored out but why ?

Bottom line: Too many people have had good luck with Mustang wheels for it to be a bad idea just be careful.

BTW a really good site for bolt circle and hub information (but not offset) is <a href="http://www.willysoffroadsupply.com/Wheel_Spacer_Chart.html" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">here.

</a>

ps: a 26.5" diameter tire on a 7" rim with 46mm offset leaves about 3/8" clearance on the front spring perch and seems to be enough .

I did a fairly complete step by step of that conversion several months back. The only thing omitted from that write up was changing the brake hoses. I, and Daniel I believe, had braided stainless hoses made up that are a bit longer than stock. If I remember right, that added about $35 to the cost of the conversion. Try searching the archive. I don't think it is included in Ronnie's site.
