West Peterson
I received this via email just recently... the photo, not the car. The gentleman is inquiring about information. Any ideas on what the value of something like this in its current condition?
West Peterson
The person I recieved this message from is interested in buying the vehicle, but doesn't know what to offer. Plus, he'd like to know if the body of it is considered "factory" (as in a recognized shop) or is it a shade-tree job.
TG57Roadmaster
I would imagine with it's cabana-car look, that maybe it was purpose-built for a hotel or plantation or the like. Perhaps as a shooting brake by/for the Maharaja of Bungicord? 'Cause that seems to be what's holding it together. Kidding!Seriously, it's unique enough to have garnered some publicity on the islands, so I'd start with historical societies' image archives, or query old locals. Also, you could spend (more than )a few hours at coachbuilt.com looking for Hawaiian builders. Most intriguing, but not a project for the faint at heart.TG

StillOutThere
I can just barely remember at 5 years old riding with my parents on a tour of a plantation (possibly Dole) in Hawaii in something like this. We stopped and tasted the cane and also tasted fresh coconut milk.
