Guest imported_JPIndusi
Gunter:My parts book shows the part number you give (1107110) is for Buick Super 1951-52, Buick Special 1953. Usually the number on the Delco Remy tag is correct, but sometimes rebuilders may switch tags or frames. However, I have a 1953 Special and this looks the same.Good luck.Joe, BCA 33493

Guest imported_56BuickSuper
Leif, how do you get the top mount bolt out with the motor still in the car? I want to change the starter drive gear but can not get at that bolt. Dan
rmartens
I had to pull the starter on my '56 Century last June. It was a challenge, but my 15 year-old son and I teamed up on the top bolt with either an open-end or box end wrench. He was under the car, I was working through the engine compartment. Can't remember who did what, but one of us was able to keep the wrench on the bolt head, the other did the work.Of course there was no way to measure torque putting it back together, so we did it as tight as we possibly could given the limited access.Rick
Guest imported_56BuickSuper
Thanks Rick. My wrench is not able to get on the bolt. I ordered a curved one from Sears hoping it would help.Dan

Guest imported_56BuickSuper
Lief,Thank you for the pictures and sizes. This is what I was thinking I would need something like while under the car. Having the dimensions will make this a lot easier.Dan
Guest gunnie
Hi Leif,Nice tool you have made :-)Hi RTMartens & 56BuickSuper, i dont now how it is by a ' 56 but it was not easy to hold the starter with one hand horizontal and in my other hand a small wrench. You may always post some pics of your cars to my email adress :-)debacker.vankeer@gmail.comgreetz,Gunter
Guest imported_56BuickSuper
Well, my Craftsman wrench came in today. This looked like it may work.http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00904376000P?vName=Tools&cName=Hand+Tools%2C+General+Purpose&sName=WrenchesThe ad says "Obstruction Wrench makes your work easier in confined areas ideal for manifolds and starters. 12 pt. openings in 9/16 and 5/8 in. standard sizes. 7-1/4 in. long. Guaranteed forever!"So I took a shot. That said, a person can not have too many 9/16 X 5/8 combination wrenches. Good thing since it could not get on the bolt in question. So I printed Lief's picture and took it to a local shop with another new 5/8 box end. They said it should be done in a day or two. Will post back with the results.Dan
