4-cylinder DB point dwell

Recommended Posts

So if you were going to check your point gap on a DB with the Northeast Electric Co. distributor, what should the reading be in degrees on a dwell meter?

The same as any other 4-cylinder car?

Benefits of AACA Membership.

I would think if you found specs for another 4 cylinder with a .020 point gap the dwell reading should be the same. Why not just use a feeler gauge?

Yesiree dwell is all about how long the points are closed before the cam moves to open them again which of course will be influenced by how much gap you make.

Small gap - points open late close early - large dwell

Large gap - well you can work it out

Yes, I know that. I just want to double-check the point gap with the engine running.

Anybody know the answer?
