If you are concerned about the exterior appearance you can ask them to only treat the inside of the tank, but I've asked for that and had the tank come back with the black goop on the outside. It's like McDonalds--they make so many burgers one way and special orders DO upset them. The Re-Nu process works great though, and seems to handle the changes in gas formulation well. pepstrebeck Posted April 7, 2008 Share Posted April 7, 2008 I had it done on my 29 Dodge Brothers a few years back, no problems or complaints. I only had them do the inside, then off to the body shop for a re-paint on the outside. My Dodge has an exposed tank, so it needed to be painted.
