imported_Big Mark
I'm bidding on a 1927 Dodge Brothers "Fast Four" 124 sedan it has an oval glass cover over the instrament cluster. is this a sports model? or is that the one with the triangle shaped glass? if it is a sports model what paint color would be right? Thanks, Mark

dwollam
It is a late 1927 124 model with the "fast 4" engine. It is not a sport model (to the best of my knowledge).
imported_Big Mark
thanks Dave, But how can you tell? what are the signs?
dwollam
The engine for 1. Carb on the right side. The carb is actually assembled backwards on this one, the air filter should be to the rear. I have a 124 roadster. The dash also. Yes the sport model had the triangle dash. 124 models were only built for a couple months. Plus I talked to this gentelman a couple months ago. Jim Anselmo
With the mohair upholstery and the pulls I would say it is a Deluxe Model. I believe the standard model had leather interior and no pulls (at least in 28).Anyone know if the 124 model was considered a "Fast Four" or did that start with the 128/129 models? I guess I always assumed the 128/129's were the "Fast Fours"
dwollam
Dodge never called any of their cars "Fast Fours", the ads said something like "fastest four in America" or something to that effect. The general public coined the "Fast Four" label. The 124 uses the same engine as the 128/129 "Fast Four" cars, but has the same basic chassis as the earlier cars, 116" wheelbase.
