Guest Series19
I have had this wheel for so long that I have forgotten what it went to. Could you look at the photo and tell me what I have forgotten. It has a brake drum so it is late 20's and it is about 18 1/2 inches wide. It also has only 4 clips to hold a rim on so I know that it is not a Hudson. I am fairly sure that it is a Peerless, but what year and what model?? Guest Series19
How about this. Does any of the Peerless Cars from the 20's have wood wheels that have only 4 clamps to hold the rim and tire to the wheel?
jeff_a
Series 19:Thank you for sending in the picture of a wheel. I cannot identify what makes of cars it will fit, or the manufacturer of the wheel. Apparently, none of the viewers of the AACA Discussion Forums who have read this have been able to answer your questions, either. Bear in mind that the Peerless Forum has only been in operation six months, and probably not too many Peerless owners have seen this yet.Maybe you can find a wheel specialist who could tell you some of the cars it could potentially fit. Perhaps you own several Peerless cars, or have in the past. Knowing that would help a little. In looking at pictures I have of Peerless cars, there are very few with just 10 spokes; and few with the proportions of the one in the photo, or 4 attachment points for the rim. Most of the them with 10 spokes in the pictures I have are between 1909 and 1920 ,and have relatively long spokes in relation to the hub diameter. I did come across one shot of a 1930 Peerless Six on a Russian website called autogallery.org.ru that has a similar artillery wheel on a DeLuxe Rumbleseat Coupe. Even the numbers of carriage bolt heads & demountable rim attachment points are correct. First consulting work I ever did where I got helped by Russian authorities on American antique cars! Guest BJM
NO, this is not a Peerless rim.
Guest Series19
I was hoping for an answer, but I have found a picture of a 1929 Sedan and am uploading the rear wheel. It is a 10 spoke 4 clamp unit. So are most of the people here earlier models? Let me know as to what you have.
