Reatta45
The reality is you rarely will recover what you spend for or on any car… You say you have only had this for half a year, most of that time in storage… Your best bet to get your money back from this car is to drive it… They are a great road cars, After all it’s a Buick.Keep it and drive it until you can afford to part with it for it’s actual market value… It may increase in value and in that way move closer to what you would like to sell it at… Also you may enjoy driving it so much that you would not want to sell it, because you will never get enough from the sale to replace it with anything better than a Reatta….KennyV. DAVES89
I bought my '89 with 113000 miles for $4200. I put $2000 more into it, [till need some more paint, thats another $700.] I used it for business so I can write off the miles, but it is still a $4000 car at best. It is the more common red/tan coupe. In order to appreciate or command a better $ the car must be a convertable or even rarer a select 60. I understood this going in and am comfortable with it. [i also don't really care for convertables, not enough nice days in Wi] I am considering a sun/moon roof though. But good luck to you and your quest for $7000. Guest TommyH
Some color combos also demand more cash. Rare colors, like the Gunmetal, with fewer than 5% of all Reattae being painted this color(not silver, that was 10% I belive) Black was 17%. My Reatta is black/grey, and I love it. I do wish I had a silver or gunmetal one though. Anywyas, we bought the car for $3200, spent $300 to get it to us, another $200 in tax/title fees. Then it needed some engine work, thats another $1000 or so. And earlier today, on my way to school, the right rear tired thing broke. The rear of the car is sunk down, and it looks like the brakeline was holding it all together. Will post pix soon. I say, drive it. Enjoy it. Its your car. buckljak
yeah i wish i could but reattas arent really made to drive in an iowa winter, its already having trouble getting around. i appreciate all of your advice, i really do, and i wish i could take it, but i have to be able to buy something more capable on the snow. Guest EDBSO
A Reatta with 4 snow tires is a very good winter car. It can go through just about anything. This from the capital of a very snowy country. Get yee to Tire Rack
buckljak
yeah a rod went out on it, just a fluke. i got a decent deal on a low mileage motor out of another car to put into my car, it only has about 25k on the motor. it needed a new fuel pump because it was in storage for over 10 years when i bought it and the pump jsut went bad. also the gas tank got some rust in it from sitting so long and the rust got in the fuel lines, requiring me to replace the fuel lines and plugged fuel injectors. the dash went bad on me and i had to replace it too.
