Maineloans
And if so, what year? My grandmother writes in a memoir that they sold their Pierce Arrow during WW II in order to purchase their first home. This picture taken in front of my great aunt's house when they first were married.
trimacar
Hi- it is definitely a Pierce, looks like a 1931 Model 42, could be a year older, I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong. Great car, hope it still survives! Happy (Pierce!) Motoring! David Coco Winchester Va.
TheMoneyPit
Headlights in the front fender - dead giveaway for a Pierce. I'm not sure, but I'd think earlier than 1931 as I thought they went away from the flat radiator then.A real beauty, i too hope it's still around and being loved. KRK Sr.
Maineloans, I would agree with David that your photo is a 1931 Pierce. The 29 and 30 Pierce-Arrows had a front bumper that had a slightly larger space between the two bars. In 1932 the cars all had a single bar front bumper and the tilted Radiator that Moneypit mentions in his post. This car has the large hubcaps too. These caps were on all Pierces after mid 1930. Great old photo. Karl
trimacar
In 1931, there were 3 models of Pierce, the 41, 42, and 43. The easy way to tell them apart, the 41 had a solid bumper. The 42 had a small gap between two bumper bars, the 43 (with a slightly smaller engine) had a large gap between bumper bars.Pierce's are great cars, I have had several; I now and will always will own (while alive!) a 1931 Model 43 Sport Phaeton, a car I have known since 1965, and bought in the early 1980's.
