Guest ZombyWoof
How often should you start up your car to keep things flowing, coated, and protected?ZW
Guest rlbleeker
I put them away in the fall and leave them there till spring. If you are going to start it when it's cold, make sure to warm it up thoroughly (i.e. drive it somewhere.) If you don't, condensation will be left in the motor and the exhaust system and you may do more harm than good.
Guest ZombyWoof
Thanks.Do you think it causes any more/less wear to start it up one a week? Every 2 weeks? Once a month?ZW
68RIVGS
Unless your gonna let it run sufficiently long enough to really warm up completely, I wouldn't start it at all !Fresh oil 'n filter prior to storage, a quick shot of light oil in each cylinder thru the spark plug hole, and an engine crank (with the coil wire disconnected)to coat the cylinder walls, and that's it, till you bring it out of storage next spring. The subject of winter storage has been well documented in a few articles in the ROA Riview !
