Need help removing the top cover on the front of the crankshaft. The ring on the front end of the crankshaft appears to be loose. How is it attached? Larry

Larry??

I am not sure what you are asking but remember the casting on the front of the engine is the front mounting support via that pipe through the frame where the crank hole plug goes. So, before attempting to remove that casting be certain to support the engine from underneath first. Why do you need to undo this? Perhaps there is an easier solution?

We are tring to get to the end of the crankshaft. The hand crack will not turn the crack shaft. It appears the whatever is on the end of the crankshaft is loose or partial gone and the hand crank will not engage. We are now thinking that the starter/generator must be removed to allow the top of the front casting to be removed exposing the timing type belt that drives the accessories and also exposing the front end of the crankshaft. The engine is free. There seens to be nothing for the hand crank to engage on the crankshaft. We can start the engine using the starter/generator, but we would like to expose the front end of the crackshaft and repair the part that mates with the hand crank. Larry
