Guest Stllrng. Posted July 14, 2007 Share Posted July 14, 2007 the 1500 degree flame doesn't touch the sides of the lamp. Paint it with the black engine enamel. I could be wrong but I painted my gas lamps with plain old black enamel (not engine paint) and never had a problem.
