  1. Hi all, new here. I have a question that you may be able to help with, 1950 Chrysler Windsor Highlander, actually two questions. 1. My interior lights have decided to stay on. I have checked all door jam switches, and still on, any ideas? 2. My wipers up and stopped working. I can seemed to find anything anywhere regarding the wiper motors on these cars. Background on car: 36,055 miles on the car, its like looking at a new car other than a stained headliner and soon to be upholstered seats.
  2. Hello all. First time on the forum. I just bought a 1949 Chrysler Windsor 2 door. Looks like it needs a new gas tank but I'm having trouble finding a decently priced one online. Anyone know where I can find one or where to find a tank from another car that wouod fit it? Thanks.
  3. I have a 1955 Chrysler Windsor project for sale, I'm going to college so I need to sell this and get something I can drive longer distances without as much trouble. This runs and drives, but only under 45 mph, because it has to use a manual choke to start.   4. I know there is a lot of trouble removing the oil pan on old Windsors (mines a 55), but I didn't have a way of picking out the engine so I could replace the gaskets, so I had to improvise. If you put a jack between the ti rods and the engine block (i did it on the left side) and push it about 3-5 inches the oil pan will slide out pretty easily. Just letting you guys know because it wouldn't come out for me without doin this.
  5. I need the headlight ring fittings for a 1955 chrysler windsor deluxe and also the air regulator. I'm not sure if it is called the air regulator or what, if someone could tell me exactly what I'm looking for that would be great. I have a manual choke on it right now and was also wondering how I could fix that and if the air regulator (?) Would fix that. As for the rings, I have the entire headlight assembly with the exception of the rings that hold the headlights in place. If anybody is selling those I'd be happy to buy for the right price.

  7. Hi folks! Sorry if this has been addressed recently, but my searching didn't find anything. When my '48 Windsor is warmed up, I notice that it takes a while for the transmission to shift to the next speed after I let up on the accelerator. When the engine is cold, it's an immediate response, but when it's warmed up (especially on a hot day) it can take 4-5 seconds. Much too long in traffic. What would be causing this? Is it an easy fix? Thanks!
  8. :)Hello! I have posted some threads in the past about my 49 Chrysler, and I am happy to say that I have successfully been able to tear down and re-build the original 251 Flathead straight 6. Unfortunately, however, now that everything is reassembled, I am not getting any spark to the plugs. I pulled the distrubutor cap and checked the points while turning them over, and I am not seeing spark there. I installed a new ignition coil, still nothing. I also ran all new leads to the coil and distributor according to the original shop manual. Any ideas?:confused: Thanks everybody in advance!
  9. Im selling the engine and transmission out of a 1948 chrsyler windsor. This engine does run good! The carb will need to be rebuilt though. 80 some thousand on it. Transmission works great as well. It is the fluid drive. If interested you can call me at 402-709-8720. Will take $750 for it.
  10. OK, so here is the situation. The engine on my 49 Windsor is seized up from not running for years, but was running when it was parked 5-6 years ago(from what the seller told me.) I ordered new rod beaings, piston rings, etc to refurbish the original engine. Well, now I went out to open the hood and start working on the old car, and the cable broke for the hood latch!!! Does anyone have an idea as to how I can get this thing open!? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!
  11. Hello! I have a 1949 Chrysler Windsor with the original flathead 6 and fluid drive transmission. Unfortunately, the engine is toasted, and even with the head off, I cannot get it to turn over. I was wondering if anybody knew of a way to mount up a later model v8 to the original transmission. Even some ideas as to what to do in order to get the original engine turned over would be appreciated! Thanks a lot!
