  1. I am in the process of buying a 1961 Buick Special from a friend of mine, but the only problem is it needs a fuel tank. I've been searching all over the internet for a solution. Can anyone direct me to a place where I can find one? Or maybe if anyone knows of where to get a replacement fuel tank for this vehicle? I would greatly appreciate it and thank you! Bobby
  2. Y'all probably remember this one from the buy & sell forum. I said it would take a while, but it's finally arrived, after a roll-back, an 18-wheeler, and another roll-back. Now safely tucked away inside my garage. Roy's description was accurate but for one thing - while it was up on the transporter I looked underneath, and it looked even better than I expected. Darned phone was re-booting at that moment, so no photos. A couple of hornet's nests were found (and I don't mean just a figure of speech - real hornets). For now, my kids have named this one "Mater" for the patina. My daughter even

  5. Thought i would share this great story from local Back to the Bricks car show 2014 http://www.mlive.com/news/flint/index.ssf/2014/08/flushing_man_journeys_a_1956_b.html Some great looking 1952 specials too.......
  6. I've found a 58 hardtop project car but the front seat is missing. Is any other Buick/GM front seat frame/spring assembly the same as a 58 Century 4-door hardtop seat? From looking at pictures, I would guess that the 57 Olds and Buick "B" bodies shared a common seat frame, but I'd like to be more certain before I buy a seat. I have searched this forum but can't find an answer; hope someone can help me out. Thanks! JoeT

  9. Hello, I'm pretty excited as this is the first time I'm posting a thread on this forum. Unfortunately, my first post is marred by tragedy(A financial tragedy, at least). The story begins when I nabbed my license approximately a year ago, as I turned sixteen. I have been collecting and restoring vintage radios, televisions, and phonographs for the past ten years so I am mechanically inclined, and my uncle owns a garage where he assured me I would have access to the resources I needed to fulfill my dream. That dream? To own a classic car and employ it as my daily driver. Foolish I know, but at t
  10. Hey all, I own a 1951 Buick Special equipped with the dreaded "Dynaslow", "Dynaslush", or however you prefer to call it. It's honestly not that bad, granted I've only driven it for about a month. But, I was wondering, how much wear would it put on the transmission if I started off in low gear and then proceeded to switch to drive at around 30? You've probably got this question plenty of times at this point, but I couldn't find any other threads regarding this topic. Thanks for your time. Sincerely, Jacob

  12. I was wondering if anyone knows how close a 52 Olds 88 trunk pan is to my 52 buick special trunk pan. Classic 2 current has this for 129 bucks, and appears to be very similar to my trunk pan. Or would i be better starting from scratch?

  14. Hey fellow Buick lovers, Im proud to say I own a 1955 special with 80k on her and im the 3rd owner now. It has been a load of fun learning and working on it. In 1 day I got her running after 25 plus years of being stored in the garage. I did some research on non detergent oil also lead additive for the gas, put a new battery in after fresh fluids and she fired right up. Now after a few times around the block the clutch is slipping really bad. Do they make clutch kits for the 3 speed manual. I find kits but I have no clue the size or exactly what I need. And please feel free to give ti
  15. Dear Buick fans or any classic car lover, I am new to the classic's but knew id own one soon after seeing the special in movies like this boys life and dont tell mom the babysitter is dead. I finally just bought a 1955 Buick special 3 speed on the column with 80k miles on it. Since im in my 20s this older technology on this car is like my grandparents with my ipod, definitely takes reading and just getting under the hood. After not running for 25yrs I changed the battery, drained all fluids, bought new non detergent oil and an oil canister filter, put lead addictive in the gas & she fire

  17. Somewhere in the forum I found a post that listed the exact part number for the radiator for the 1951 40-series with Dynaflow, and what other years interchanged. I wrote it down, then lost what I wrote & can't find the post again. Anyone have that info? I believe it's a common part across 1950-52, but want to check. My '51 does not have the original radiator & rather than restore/recore this mystery part, I need to start over with the right radiator.
  18. Im in need of a set of 54 buick dagmars, I have purchased a 54 special, and unfortunately, it does not have them on it.... Hopefully someone can help me out Cheers

  20. Well I'm looking to sell what's left of my 1963 Buick Special. I bought it at a local consignment auction in the summer of 2011 for what I thought was an amazing deal, $2,000. It was in really good drivable condition and, since I have never owned a vehicle purely for fun, I was thrilled to be able to tool around in it as it was. It suited me right down to the ground. It had this goofy flat black after market paint job with red wheels and details that I felt fit me and my personality perfectly. It brought me and the people I ran into when I was out and about driving it an awful lot of joy.

My Buick special is drum/drum and a original power brake car. The treadle vac was gone form the car and don't plan on going that route of putting one back in.I understand that the brake lines in the 55 special are 1 inch.so theoretically if I had a drum drum power booster that was 8 inches and
  22. hi, i'm looking for some parts for my 1953 special riviera...i need a gas pedal, a shift stick with knob (for manual transmission), wiper blades (somehow the one i have on it are 11" long but they keep getting stuck on the top of windshield) so i guess i need 10" one, exterior sunvisor, and perhaps one of you knows where to get an upholstery kit for the seats, something ready to put on it... thank you
  23. Hey guys, I have been looking at a lot of 37 Buick Special 4 door pictures and have not seen anyone fender-less. Has anyone seen one without fenders? I'm not planning on doing this to our 37 but have been curious if anyone has done this in "rat rod" fashion or otherwise. Maybe there's a reason that I haven't seen one yet. Sam
  24. hey how yall doing just finished registering on this club, i just picked up a beutiful 1940 buick special, is going good so far, all but finding parts. im redoing the brakes at the moment and trying to find a new master cylinder, no luck yet, but one company im working with is trying all over the states, the one issue im having is geting the casting number on the master cylinder, its very pitted and really cant make any numbers out, does any one know the numbers for that model or have an idea where to get a single output master cylinder for this thing??
