  1. Hi. I have a deSoto - 46 with a fluiddrive/tiptoe gearbox. My problem is that the gear wont shift from 3 - high. In some point the relay started to make a ticci noise, verry fast. When i removed the wire from the gov´ th on the relay, the noice stoped. I hade also a metalic sound from under the car, when it tryed to shift. Due to my shopmanual, i disconected the wire from the TH on the relay so the freewheeling was of. Then the metalic sound stoped and i could drive like a car with a stick. Then the sound came back annyway. I have also tested the solenoid on the gear and it would not press ou
  2. Hello Everyone I am in the process of restoring a 1950 buick special 2dr jetback. All of a sudden I get no action from starter and no action from the plunger. I had order a replacement starter and solenoid. Whhen I recieved the piece it was from a 51 or later because the starter relay switch is not connected to the soleniod. I am looking for a way to either 1. test original starter to find out what is wrong. 2. Just buy a relay switch and add on. 3. find another 50 starter. I dont know if its the switch, the starter, or the solenoid itself. Any ideas or input would be great.

  4. Is there a source for matching the Auto-lite part numbers to my '48 Chrysler Windsor 4-dr.? I see these now and then sold for my car but I'm never sure if the seller knows if the Auto-lite number is really right for my car. I have a Chrysler parts book with Chrysler part numbers but what if i only have the Auto-lite number? I bought a digital '38-'51 Auto-lite catalog on Ebay for this reason, but I do not see any transmission solenoids in it.
