1. Jon Boschen's Classic Industrial Film Showcase" No. 2: "Direct Mass Selling's Technicolor Harmony" Two 1930's Jam Handy films, "Color Harmony" (1938) and "Seeing Green" (1937), are the subject in this installment of "Jon Boschen's Classic Industrial Film Showcase". Both films were produced by the Jam Handy Organization and were entries in the studio's iconic short film series being produced for Chevrolet, 'Direct Mass Selling'. Unlike other entries in the series which consisted of either black and white live action films or Technicolor animated cartoons, these two films utilized the black and white to Technicolor technique as a way to enhance their subject matter. It is now available for viewing on youtube: å
2. Hello my name is Jonathan A. Boschen, and I am a bit new here. I am a film historian and also a filmmaker; not so much a car historian, but I wanted to reach out to the classic car community and share an ambitious project I am doing which deals with Automobile history, especially with the history of Chevrolet. I am doing a history documentary on Jamison Handy and his iconic company the Jam Handy Organization. Many film buffs and history buffs here may know Handy for the enjoyable films his studio did for chevrolet (the Direct Mass Selling series of the 30s (which had those Nicky Nome cartoons), all those theatrical screen ads, and those four lavish Technicolor Superscope films of the 50s), however his legacy and his accomplishments go well beyond these films (Believe it or not he is one of the main reasons why Chevrolet exists today). As a matter of fact the history of both him and his iconic company are rather fascinating! This project is about 13 years in the making, and it is topic I have extensively researched since I was a sophomore in High School. Please visit my Kickstarter page for more information and help me raise my goal of $27,000, to make this film possible. All contributors and investors for the documentary will receive an award, or several awards for the amount they donate to the film. Each award will be associated with my film and/or the Jam Handy Organization. I greatly appreciate any contributions invested into the film and if I reach my goal of $27,000, I will be able to make this documentary and in doing so recognize an iconic and inspiring American. However, if I am unsuccessful in raising the $27,000, all the funds will be returned to the contributors and Mr. Handy’s impressive resume will remain obscure. So please contribute today. Thank you for your consideration!
