Every picture I have seen of a D14 Dodge the front bumper does not have these two upper portions. Was the a bumper from another model car, aftermarket addition, or a homebrew setup from a guy pretty good with metal working? http://i.imgur.com/BVgR1.jpg (Hi Res)
I bought a 1940 Dodge D14 this summer, and was LOVING IT, until a rod started knocking this fall. I just pulled the engine and am going to take it to a shop for a rebuild. They'll do new rings and (if needed) oversize pistons or rebore cylinders, new valves and seats, and take care of the knock. While the engine is out, what else should I do, or have the engine shop do? The transmission shifted smoother than my '71 Chevy C10, so I'm not going to touch that. Will probably go through the clutch - what should be done while it's out? Thanks for any feedback! I've gone through several 2 cylinder John Deere engines, but never have gone through a whole car engine. This car has become my baby, so I want to make sure that everything is done right (cost considerations will come into play...I can't afford to go overboard).
